Thing 14
I already am familiar with LibraryThing having used it for a project. However, I had no idea what my password was as it's been a while since I last used it, so I started all over. It's a cool site but I'm not sure I would use it all the time as I just confessed. I know a friend who uses it for her church library where she volunteers. It's great for that use - free cataloging. I'll have to see if I continue with it. I think this might be one of those things for which I just don't have the time. We'll see.

Thing 13
I like this! I chose iGoogle to set up my page mainly because I don't want to have accounts all over the place. It also seemed to have most of what I want right there. I liked Backpack but I don't think I need to go there yet but my husband could use it. He has hid own business and I can see tremendous uses for him. He has so many balls in the air all the time - this site would help.
Thing 12
I like Newsvine. I can see how browsing through that page would save time versus hitting each separate news site. I'm also intrigued by the sysytem of weighting the articles. Democracy in action one of the sites claimed. I'm not sure that's entirely true as it's reflectve of only those people that use the site...
Thing 11
I need to reflect further than I have time for now, on the potential uses for a social bookmarking tool. I can see how it would help some one doing indepth reasearch - opening up possibilities for a new direction in that research by sharing resources. I'm not certain how this would help the basic public library patron who just want a quick answer to their question. I did take a look at the links to public libraries that are using the tool. I'll have to check them more thoroughly. Hmmm...

Thing 7
I'm back! I had shoulder surgery in the middle of March and wasn't up for much until now. I'm still working one handed and slowly but while I'm off work I can finish the Things!
We use email a lot to communicate between staff of course, and we offer email notification to patrons. But we have a lot of people who prefer the phone for various reasons. I have two teens in my TAG who don't have computers at home.
I love the webinars! We have a very tight training budget in our system and this is a great option.
